Let’s face it, the battle of the bulge is real for pet owners and their pets. Now, it goes without saying that pets are good for our health, but why not make it a point to enjoy and share the benefits of fun and exercise? Studies have proven that pets lower blood pressure and lessen anxiety and depression symptoms. A study from the American Psychological Association revealed that even thinking about a beloved pet improved the emotional well-being of a pet owner just as much as thinking about a cherished friend did.
Allen R. McConnell of Miami University in Ohio said in a statement. “Specifically, pet owners had greater self-esteem, were more physically fit, tended to be less lonely, were more conscientious, were more extroverted, tended to be less fearful and tended to be less preoccupied than non-owners.”
So, now that the studies prove what we already knew, why not give and get what you and your pet need, a fun-filled romp in the park or a brisk walk around the block? The benefits are tremendous and we’re sure that you both will enjoy the time together and reap a bountiful harvest of healthy rewards!
